I just had to capture this gem on my blog! I went into Morrisons supermarket this morning and was about to rush out with my bottle of Fairy Liquid when a chap in his 40’s rattled a collection box in my face and said for ‘Children’s Cancer Sir”
I quickly sunk my hand into my pocket and was fumbling for a £1 coin when he added: “heading back to work?”. I nodded in affirmation to which he commented “Well sir, don’t rush unless you’re the boss!”. Well, I do happen to be the boss and, while the comment was said casually and in humour, it is indicative of the malaise which so often infects society. What type of a message does that send out to people? The so-called ‘boss’ always knows the workers and ‘slackers’ so, when you decide to adhere to the type of wisdom proffered in my local supermarket, always remember that you rob yourself of a bit of credibility every time you employ a ‘dodge it’ technique’ and, possibly, promotion because the boss ain’t stupid! Here endeth the lecture!
