The most lowly of people know people, who know people……..who can help make you a fortune. Never damn the lowly!I went to a meeting and met a guy who dealt in pensions. I know nothing about pensions but I still met him for a coffee to see how I could help him. He explained what he did and I trawled my contacts and made a couple of connections for him. He didn’t do any business but realised that I was trying.
It was only after a couple more coffees with my genial host, that he confided that his small company had been established by a leading law firm from the South. It resulted in a meeting with an equity partner from the firm and, to cut a long story short, led to a major pitch for business.
I was telling the story to Brenda Duffy from Partners in Performance (www.partnersinperf.co.uk) who commented “You never know how far a frog can jump!”. How right she was!
